The deep thigh bruise he suffered in the Feb. 12 game against Tennessee will keep Florida senior F Chandler Parsons out of the lineup when the Gators play at LSU Sunday.
Florida athletics officials confirmed late Saturday night that Parsons will not play. On Friday, UFÂ coach Billy Donovan had listed Parsons as 50-50 for the game, saying that playing would not cause further damage to the injured leg. But Parsons has been unable to practice since he was injured.
In the six games prior to suffering the injury, Parsons averaged 12 rebounds and had four double-doubles during that stretch. This is the first game this season in which Parsons will not start.
Although LSU is just 10-16 (2-9 SEC), Donovan said he hasn't seen any signs that the Tigers won't be competitive.
